The black opal heart is placed into the opening in the pendant and then the edges of the bezel are burnished downward to secure the opal. The burnishing tool is shown below, but the pendant was actually held with one hand and burnished with the other.
Then the pendant was taken to the buffing wheel and the silver was carefully brought to a high shine
